SELF CARE CATALYSTS STRENGTHENS ITS TEAM OF SCIENTIFIC ADVISORS

TORONTO, August 27, 2019. Self Care Catalysts, a patient-driven Real World Evidence, Research, and Digital Therapeutics company is pleased to announce that Paul Wicks, PhD, has joined as a Scientific Advisor.

Paul is a widely recognized scientist for his work integrating the patient voice into clinical research. A neuropsychologist with an interest in cognitive issues amongst patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson's disease, Paul has become known for his work with patient-generated health data as the VP of Innovation and Research at PatientsLikeMe. His accolades include being honoured as a TED Fellow, and TR35 Humanitarian of the Year by MIT Technology Review.

Self Care Catalysts collects unique data from patients throughout their journey, regardless of their disease or number of conditions. “As the data from our patient-centric solutions grows over time, we will benefit from an expert Patient Outcomes Scientist who can help paint a full picture of the patient decision making journey throughout their experience, and who can connect that knowledge to the clinical trial and drug development process” said Grace Castillo-Soyao, CEO of Self Care Catalysts.

While the ability to leverage social data from patients has made it easier to include patients experiences and preferences in research, “The unique individual patient journey data that SCC collects presents a wealth of opportunity to engage patients in unprecedented ways” said Paul Wicks of the company he will be joining as Scientific Advisor. “My previous work has shown that patients are interested in the altruistic act of engaging in research, and Self Care Catalysts takes this a step further by helping patients manage their own health more effectively with their platform that serve a dual purpose as a self-care tool and research instrument”.
